Retreats

Grow Your Faith and Community

Grow in your faith and fellowship with others through discipleship retreats at ÃÛÌÒapp!Ìý

Our transformative retreat experiences bring you to a beautiful off-campus setting, where you'll step away from the busy pace of life. Whether through guided activities or a silent experience, these retreats will help you become more attentive to your relationship with God, yourself, and others while at ÃÛÌÒapp.

All retreats require registration and a small fee to help cover the costs of lodging and food. Financial assistance may be available to those who need it (contact campus.ministries@calvin.edu).

Which Retreat Style is Right For You?

We offer two types of retreats: the Fall Retreat and multiple silent retreats.Ìý

Fall Retreat

The start of the fall semester marks the start of a new pace, environment, and relationships. For some, this transition can lead to anxiety, exhaustion, and a sense of spiritual disconnection.Ìý

The academic fall break lands at a pivotal time where rest and connection are essential. We offer the Fall Retreat to meet you in that moment and transform the rest of your year.

The Fall Retreat is open to any undergraduate student seeking connection and spiritual renewal over fall break.

What to Expect

  • Fun in Nature
Enjoy fall-themed activities like hiking, paddling, group games, and more—all set in a peaceful outdoor environment.
  • Spiritual Practices
Engage in guided activities grounded in the spiritual disciplines of prayer, worship, and scripture, creating space for reflection and faith formation.
  • Meaningful Connections
Meet students from across grades, majors, and backgrounds. Whether you come with friends or on your own, you’ll find opportunities to strengthen and build new relationships.

Silent Retreats

In the midst of the fast past and constant demands of the academic calendar, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The mental load and inner dialogue can be hard to quiet, often making it difficult to intentionally cultivate your faith.

We invite you to step away from the noise for a weekend and practice silence, one of the lesser known and practiced spiritual disciplines meant to help you reconnect with God’s presence.

What to Expect:

  • Guided Spiritual Practices
Practice silence through prayer, scripture, liturgies, rest, nature, artwork, and food, and more.
  • Small Group Setting
Each silent retreat is limited to 10 or fewer students, creating an intimate and powerful environment for reflection and connection.
  • Staff Support
Campus Ministries staff lead the retreat and provide options for how to practice silence meaningfully.
  • Group Debrief
While the retreat is silent, there are moments for shared reflection and conversation to process the experience together.
