On Saturday, April 25, Nepal experienced the most powerful disaster to strike the country in more than 80 years. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake's epicenter was in Barpak, Gorkha district. The death toll to date has exceeded 7,500. About 100 miles to the southwest of the epicenter is Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

Chemistry professor Herb Fynewever is a Fulbright Scholar this spring at Kathmandu University. He, and his family, were in fairly close promixity to this catastrophic event when it happened. Fynewever recently agreed to reflect on his experience and provide his perspective on the needed relief.

In talking with us, the Fynewevers were quick to praise the relief efforts being done by World Renew and specifically its partnership with —“where Pastor Arbin Pokharel (����app seminary alum) and his wife Bimala (����app alum) live, work and give their lives to their ministry and the people of Nepal.” They are encouraging those looking for ways to help with relief efforts to consider , which is “coming alongside Cross-Way Community Church and their seminary in the work of spreading the hope of the Gospel, and is giving food and medical relief to some of the hardest hit communities that contain active and growing churches.”
