Chemistry & Biochemistry Fall Seminar 2025 teams up with the Visiting Artist Series and the Center Art Gallery to present "The Chemistry of Encaustics!"

Come join 2025 Visiting Artist, Marissa Voytenko, in a gallery walk that explores her work in encaustic painting! 

Encaustics fuse ancient aesthetics with a modern sensibility, first used by ancient Greek boat makers and engineers. Voytenko's process—layering, scraping, and burnishing encaustic wax— reveals vibrant hues beneath muted surfaces, mirroring her contemplative practice of prayer.

This event is part of both the Visiting Artist Series hosted by the Center Art Gallery, and part of the Chemistry and Biochemistry 2025 Fall Seminar!
